Tory grandee Ken Clarke is joining forces with Labour peer Lord Mandelson in a historic cross-party bid to turn back the rising tide of Euroscepticism.
The two political heavyweights will share a platform to call for an abandonment of plans to disengage from the European project.
When you’ve a cross party consensus among very serious people like this then you know damn well that whatever they’re pushing is wrong.
This works in spades if Mandelson is involved of course.

Is that mortgage-fraud Mandelson or some other chap with the same name? Very tricky, this business of naming “Lords”.

“People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.”

They still don’t have any concrete publicly announced rationale for why membership of Europe is a good thing. I mean, obviously it is good for the pocket books of the political classes, but other than that the EU only seems to be bad for the country.

They’ve been wrong consistently until now so why should they be right this time? When is Hezza joining this unholy alliance?
