Completely nonsensical economic argument spotted

September 26th, 2012 · 10 Comments

This:

the government should subsidize left-handed cat-loving guitar-playing economists.

And then this:

Clearly this is rubbish, there is absolutely no justification for such a subsidy. A correct and proper subsidy would go to right-handed cat-loving nonguitar-playing economists!

Entirely nonsense. The only valid subsidy would be to cat loving non-guitar playing politically partisan hacks posing as economists on the internet.

As long as they’re not retired accountants from Wandsworth.

Your links don’t seem to work but seem to be pointing at Chris Dillow’s blog which is as close to the reality based community as left-leaning blogs get.

Subsidies are clearly not apropriate, however, I have passed Go and would like to collect my £200.

I can’t believe Richie would like cats, they’re far too independent of thought. I imagine that foot licking lapdogs would be more his style.

Tim – from whence did your antipathy to RM spring? I read his stuff and he is a certifiable loon, but there’s no shortage of idiots – what makes him special for you? (forgive me if the history is well-known in these parts, I’m a bit new)

Tim adds: Because I’m actually worried that the loon has serious people listening to him. Thus the loonness needs to be proclaimed.

Imagine how bad he would be if no one at all was pointing and laughing?

I can confirm that Murphy is indeed a dog-person.

But the aforementioned retired accountant from Wandsworth DOES receive a subsidy, sort of – unlike many real economists, both left and right-handed.

I’ve seen him on 3 BBC TV shows, and he’s also been on Jeremy Vine. In all of these cases, he was presented as independent expert, rather than the beneficiary of certain groups.

The real public service benefit of Tim’s writing about RM is to highlight what the BBC thinks is normal.

“highlight what the BBC thinks is normal.”

They have IEA, TPA and other such extremists on far more as ‘experts’ on Newsnight and the like. Also their economic correspondents (except for Mason) are dribbling right wingers.

People that think the BBC is left-bias are mad. Liberal, maybe, but not left-bias. Unless you think left wing is anything left of James Murdoch. Which you probably do because your stupid. Ignorant arrogance.

Anyway here;s a proper story on UKIP
