20% of Britain’s caravan-dwelling Travellers are statutorily homeless

Astonishing that, isn’t it?

People who decide to live in caravans don’t have houses.

“That Gypsies and Travellers have a life expectancy 10 – 12 years below the national average.”

I also like the (currently) “42 comments”. Which is actually 8 comments and 34 true believers tweeting about it – mostly the title & link without any additional comment.

“But there is something particularly distasteful about adding to the already bulging cannon of stereotypes and slurs which the Travelling community has to endure”

Thing is, I’ve never had an argument with someone about their experiences of travellers moving in near them. No-one’s ever said “look, I know people say this about travellers, but we had some that moved into the field next door and there was no increase in crime and when they left, they took all their rubbish with them”.

Yes – ridiculous vanity thing. And very misleading. Some of them have hundreds of ‘comments’, which is people just clicking retweet.

Even practising fucking slavery hasn’t been enough to break the Left’s love of travellers.

Rob – “Even practising fucking slavery hasn’t been enough to break the Left’s love of travellers.”

c.f. Stalin. Seamus Milne still regrets the loss.

Besides, I think it is a because not a despite.

@DocBud – bad taste, not necessary.

I like how the article talks about “statutorially homeless”. Because the statute can be modified, they’ll never have to worry about running out of homeless to worry about.

Kind of like the difference between poverty and “relative poverty”.
