This from Primal Scream? Poe, of course, did not have rock music as part of his auditory menu, so his options didn’t include crying because the music is unutterably awful. (I’m reminded of that great line in ‘Educating Rita’. when a miserable old person says, while everyone else is enjoying themselves down the pub, ‘We used to have better things to laugh at.’)
