As that lady from IBM once said, never run the .0 version of any operating system.
Wave is the first handset to run the exciting new Samsung Bada operating system and the fun, simple TouchWiz 3.0 interface.
But maybe the manufacturers have also learnt this now?

I’m pretty sure Samsung have been using the TouchWiz UI for a while now, on top of WinMo and Android, so the 3.0 tag hasn’t come from nowhere…

The other rule is about software standards, which is that you’ll get 3 or 4 that dominate in a particular field.
You generally find that once you get past that, the remaining players are fighting over scraps.
So…
PC desktop: Windows, Linux, Mac
Browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari
Game systems: Xbox 360, Wii, PS3
Right now there are 6 platforms for smartphone: Symbian (Nokia), Blackberry, iPhone, Palm, Windows and Android. If they’re just doing what Android has done (and it looks like it), then Bada is not going to go anywhere. Android’s already established, and developers are already tooled up in it.
