LGBTQI

A new acronym appears: LGBTQI.

And what does it mean?

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning and Intersex

The “transgender” is sometime replaced with “transgender/transexual” which would, I suppose, give us LGBTTQQI.

I suppose we could have the occasional bit of fun by adding further terms: LGBTTQQII, so that we can include the indifferent. Or LGBAPIASTQQII for LGBanyportinastormTTQQII.

At some point though wouldn’t it make more sense to simply say NEH?

Not exclusively heterosexual?

This obsession with categorising people according to their sexual preferences is bizarre and confusing.

How does ‘queer’ differ from ‘gay’? And what does ‘intersex’ mean? Hermaphroditic, perhaps?

Presumably, only the bisexual and ‘questioning’ would be happy with the NEH designation.

Btw, I’m surprised that ‘polysexual’ doesn’t appear in the list.

That’s because no-one wants to consider the thought of sex with Polly..

Thank you for that Julia. Ugh.

I’ve found that when I refer to ‘em as BLTs, everyone understands.

Presumably, Julia, Peter Jenkins and David Walker did; but perhaps they didn’t look at the clock on the mantelpiece when they were poking the fire…

I’m trying to get this right, ‘homosexual’ is considered pejorative yet ‘Queer’ is ok?

Someone must be paying too much to the industry devoted to extending these abbreviations.

Not so much ‘NEH’, but possibly ‘meh’.

The question such acronyms raise should be this; is your sexuality all they are? Then why do people define themselves so exclusively by it? Seems to me a very limiting point of view.

Apologies, that should read; is their sexuality all they are.

Hyperactive mouse finger (Oops what a giveaway!).

It’s an alternative expression for WVSOTP (worthless vermin sponging off the taxpayer).

You might consider GTEOG for these groups – ‘got the ear of government’

    Bill, can you explain “meh”.

I suppose the buggers should be called whatever it is they want to be called, it’s only polite to do so.

People from Pakistan don’t like being called Pakis, I don’t know why, but why would I want to deliberately offend them?

Meh, is a Bart Simpsonism for “so what” it’s popular on the internets, I am told ;-)

“People from Pakistan don’t like being called Pakis, I don’t know why,”

Nor do I. The High Comission (or is that embassy) Roller sported the plates PAK 1 for years.
