It is all obvious or trivial except…

Polly…..

People want government to do more on most things – controlling immigration, preventing globalisation stealing away jobs to China,

Wow! How does that happen? Do they pack them up in containers at the dead of night, those jobs, and ship them out through Dover?

Or is Polly simply being ignorant again?

But the state can’t liberate unhappy e-slaves from 24-hour email inboxes, nor stop the bullying blogosphere turning national discourse nastier.

Quite….the government cannot stop me making fun of Polly and her misconceptions.

The rest of it is the usual same old. Governments are incompetent, cannot do what is asked of them, therefore we should have more government.

“the government cannot stop me making fun of Polly and her misconceptions.”

They can, Tim. Section 5 of the Public Order Act, for instance. Even if that doesn’t cover it, the new Prevention of Terrorism Act will tidy up any possibility of freedom.

After all, freedom causes things Polly doesn’t approve of.

Careful, Brian–there’s a fair chance (given the level of intelligence and inclination to reason) that she hasn’t yet made that connection. No need to simplify it for her!

No, no, no, no! Polly wants the goverment to do things her way. Without the bother of her getting elected, of course. Life in the UK would be so much better if we did away with the messy democracy thing we call politics and followed the ‘Mugabe Doctrine’.
