Debt in Haiti: fascinating

You know this thing that we should all forgive Haiti\’s debt?

You know, great big Guardian pieces about it?

Guess who is currently paying the interest on Haiti\’s debt?

It ain\’t Haiti BTW:

Haiti’s debt service payments to the IDB from mid-2009 through 2011 are covered by resources from a US-supported trust fund. Thus, Haiti’s debt to the IDB is not causing any outflow of funds from the country.

Yup, the Yanks are already paying it for them.

Wonder when the Guardian is going to tell us that?

Wonder when the Guardian is going to tell us that?

Immediately after the BBC tells us.

who’s the benefactor? just curiosity, but maybe also useful to address some of those guardian prejudices…

is the IDB the only significant lender?
