Tax Superhero of the Year Award

November 20th, 2009 · 6 Comments

I think you can probably guess where I found this little delight.

Christian Aid today launches its latest Alternative Tax Award – Tax Superhero of the Year – and invites nominations of suitably qualified firms and individuals.

The award has been introduced to highlight the  tremendous potential accountants have to change the world for the better by helping developing countries collect more of the billions of dollars’ tax that they are owed.

My nomination is this lot.

By offering an escape route from overbearing taxation they reduce the amount of such overbearing taxation, thus increasing growth levels and reducing poverty over time.

Can’t think of anyone better to be frank.

I do not recognise Dickie’s description of accountants.

Dickie’s had his lips locked on the ass of Christian Aid for years. He’ll get a nomination at the very least.

Christian Aid…mental note taken not to give them a penny in future. Thanks Tim!

Do I understand that Christian Aid is proposing to reward the individual who, in their opinion, steals most money from their people?

“the tremendous potential accountants have to change the world for the better “: it’s the way they tell ‘em.

Speaking as an accountant, had I been interested in changing the world, I wouldn’t have gone into accounting. Changing the world is the province of the hapless types that go into social work.
