It is all obvious or trivial except…

And?

Clarkson, who previously had to apologise to Gordon Brown in February after calling him “a one-eyed Scottish idiot”, described him as a “cunt” in not-for-broadcast comments during the recording of this week’s Top Gear programme on Wednesday night.

Isn’t the BBC supposed to be a reflection of the myriad opinions and communities of Britain? Clarkson was communing there with one of the larger such groups wasn’t he?

Hear, hear. If Mr. Clarkson felt himself bound to describe our monocular Supremo using, ahem, a widespread but vulgar epithet for a lady’s undercarriage, then surely we should applaud his candour. If ever a mot were juste, this is it.

By the way, the Hellograph was much more circumspect than the Graun in listing the naughty word in question, while leaving not a single reader in any doubt as to which it actually was.

Surely the “lady’s undercarriage” are her legs and her c**t is the bomb bay doors?

Ah but celebs can only have opinions if they are suitbably left of centre. Remember all the derisory comments about Maggie during the 80′s? No thoughts of censure then.

Kit, I was going to use the phrase “Richard Murphy” but I felt it somewhat boorish to dishonour the Temple of Aphrodite with such a vile appellation.

Jeremy stuck to my script with aplomb…
