    Fair enough.

    As soon as the first ‘redundant’ mosque gets turned into a nightclub…

    They could be turned into strip clubs for all I care. I do however think that its nothing to do with Mr Burnham and is rather up to those who own the church.

    They turned a quite attractive church near Leeds University into a nightclub. They even called it Halo. Even as an atheist student there, I shuddered at the notion of sweaty drunken youths tonguing each other where the altar once was. A gym would hopefully have more taste and fewer tarts.

    John Prescott’s ODPM decided that only “luxury” apartments on brownfield sites could be built. That only small gardens are permitted (to increase the density, apparently a worthy goal in its own right). That only a one car garage would be allowed.

    So under current laws, it’s very much up to Andy Burnham to tell you what you can and can’t do with your property.
