More than 30 years ago in Los Angeles, you could buy ‘wonky’ produce at farmers’ markets for a fraction of the price of the cosmetically perfect stuff in grocery stores.
Farmers who didn’t want to bother with that, just discarded what the grocery stores wouldn’t accept.
Maybe now with the credit crunch, things will change…
