    Of course, the only reason heroin supplies fell in the first was because people who were willing to have a “proper” war on drugs managed to take control of the leading producer.

    This is basically the choice: decriminalisation or Taliban. Anywhere in between will fail and has, everywhere it’s been tried, failed. The only thing which worries me is the thought that The Great British Public might opt for option 2…

    On the topic of inflation, the RPI includes mortgage payments, not house prices. Although prices have been falling, mortgage payments have not.
