While the government has consulted and dithered, low-paid, insecure work has flourished like some rapacious mould.

Mould? What, people are forced into it?

    Is it me, with all my confirmation bias, or has the narrative just flipped and people are just sick of this endless whining about “exploitative bosses” and “child poverty” and “fairness” and no longer want to hear it?

    Lefties seem to have a different definition of “force.” I presume you mean “coercion” but they mean something else. For example, someone who chooses to take a low-paid job because it looks like the best/only option for earning money has been “forced” as far as a leftist is concerned.
