“So where does matey get off telling other people what they may or may not do with their own money?”

When/if (and only when/if) it crosses from investment into national security: deliberate undermining of a country by destabilising its economy. We’d clearly have little fear of Norway’s fund doing this, but do you trust the Saudis or the Chinese to the same degree?

I sympathize with the thought. But whatever gives you the idea that your own high muckety-mucks have your particular security any more firmly in view than the strangers might? Couldn’t get that conclusion from the high regard I find frequently expressed in this here pub, bud.

With the balance of trade with China the way it is, I do fear the destabilising predations of an authoritarian Government with no respect for human rights and a total belief in its ability to control every aspect of every individual’s life.

I’m also a bit worried about the Chinese Government too.
