An explosion in an unlicensed Turkish fireworks factory killed at least 20 people, injured more than 100 and caused the five-storey building to collapse.

Which idiot set that up? I thought everyone* knew how to build a fireworks factory? Very strong walls, a very light roof and definitely no more than one story high….

* Well, everyone has read Terry Pratchett, haven’t they?

Is this an example of the potential downside of small government and unrestricted free enterprise?

Not unless the taxpaying public is being asked to stump up for the damage. Which would disprove your comment anyway.

The moron who built his factory badly has lost the lot. That’s natural selection for you - a sign that free markets are working I think.

The only fireworks factory I knew (near Sandwich) consisted of lots of tiny separate concrete buildings spread over a huge area.

Yes, LBS, and preferably scattered in the depressions amongst sand dunes.
