This Royal Gay Scandal has certainly taken an interesting step forward:
A royal aide boasts about his fling with an MP in a tape at the centre of the sex-and-drugs blackmail plot concerning a member of the Royal Family, a lawyer claimed yesterday.
The assistant to a minor relative of the Queen also claims that the true medical cause of death of a member of the Royal Family may have been concealed from the public.
Bumped off by MI5 at the instigation of Prince Phillip were they or something? It’s not Mohammed Fayed on the tape is it?

All this has got absolutely nothing on the saga of George IV (“Alvanley, who’s your fat friend?” [1]) and his wife, Caroline of Brunswick:

With guidance from Prince Albert, Queen Victoria sought to sanitise the Royal Family but she didn’t reckon on the Prince of Wales who became Edward VII.

I see from your link that Mr Strachan is described as a “socialite”. Miss Marple should be alerted.

Update on previous Royal scandals:
George IV was succeeded by William IV, his brother. Nine of William’s illegitimate children survived him but not his two legitimate children, who died in infancy, so he was succeeded by his niece, who became Queen Victoria.
By those standards, recent Royal scandals seem a bit tame.
Btw David Cameron is a direct descendant of William IV and his mistress Dorothea Jordan, which may or may not be an auspicious foundation for promoting family values.
