In contrast to which economy?
Even those economies that depend on the more ethereal products of the modern world are directly dependent on infrastructure that demands their consumption and indirectly dependent on other economies that rely upon said “evil”.
In fact, point me to any society in the history of the world that hasn’t depended on this.
Furthermore, surely we want those consuming such resources to be the ones that talk seriously about its implications?
Never let the truth stand in the way of a jab at the Americans.
